The Billie Collection

Reviewed by vintageontap on 4th January, 2017

This review is for the SKIRT pattern for the Billie Collection!

Stitched up this skirt as soon as the pattern was released and did some changes to make it more my style. Luckily, the pattern itself was a great starting point, so changes were minimal.

I increased the length of the skirt substantially. I’m 5’3″/160cm and added 7″/17.5cm in length. I also went ahead and changed the depth of the hem to a little bit longer, which is more traditional to the clothing I make.

For fit, I actually didn’t do any adjustments besides cutting the size that corresponded to my measurements. If I were to make this pattern again, I would probably do some adjusting for a slightly bigger backside. Had I kept the length of the skirt the same as the original pattern, there probably wouldn’t have been a need to change that aspect of the skirt, but considering the length, it accentuated that volume a little bit more.

I selected “Advanced Beginner” for the difficulty only for the zipper insertion. A lot of beginners may not know how to put in an exposed zipper and the instructions are a little murky. Definitely watch a YouTube video, but it’s an easy go on the first try once you can see it in action.
