Simona blouse

Pattern Description: Shirt with a removable tie. Has slightly puffy sleeves around the wrist.

Pattern Sizing: EU 34 to 46

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Not necessarily. Instructions were translated badly from French with loads of mistakes. There is a video sew along on designer’s website which shows how to make the shirt. However, the instructions booklet includes photos of each step that helps understand the wording.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I really liked the fact that there is a belt loop under the collar to help keep the tie with the shirt. I was no impressed with the way the instructions tell you to construct the back pleat. On my second shirt, I just made it using the classical what of making a box pleat.

Fabric Used: wearable muslin: viscose second version Liberty cotton lawn and cotton for the contrasting elements Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: shortened the sleeves by approx 12 cm, on my second make I also cust the tie shorted by 34cm due to the fabric not being wide enough.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? yes and yes. But I advise it for advanced beginners as some parts of the constructions are quite fiddly.

Conclusion: I was pleased that the pattern I found out there with my name on it, is also a cute one that I like. For more information and pictures please check out the link to my blog post about this lovely pattern Simona – The blouse
