Elmira wrap cardigan

This is a great pattern and a quick sew for anyone with basic skills at working with knit/jersey fabrics. The instructions are straight forward with good drawings, you just need to pay particular attention to which is the left and right front pieces as one has the tie attached to the end section and the other to the side seam.

The two front sections are faced and this gives the cardi a nice finish to the inside. I sewed this just on my overlocker and used my coverstitch machine to hem the back neckline and bottom hem. I also coverstitched along the front section edges to give it a more professional finish.

I would make it again but I would lengthen the torso, as you can see I’ll need to wear a top underneath it, a bare midriff really isn’t a winning look for me! I also lengthened the sleeves, the pattern is for 3/4 sleeves with cuffs, I added 7cm as I wanted them long, and kept the cuffs the same size.

I’ve reviewed this pattern in full on my blog, along with my thoughts on my Seamwork membership.
