Datura Blouse – Deer & Doe

This pattern is an absolutely fabulous summer top. I’ve worn it for the office with tailored trousers, with jeans and on holiday with shorts, where it remained cool and smart at the same time.

It’s a reasonably straightforward make, well drafted and, once you’ve made it once, a relatively quick sew. I’ve made three versions and reckon I’ve got it down to about 3 hours on either of the two necklines. I would say that, as with other Deer and Doe patterns, the instructions are complete but brief and, on a couple of occasions, not that clear but it’s workable with. For that reason I wouldn’t recommend it for a total beginner, but someone confident with some experience could definitely do well with it.

I’d recommend sticking to the light weight, drapey fabrics recommended as it gives a lovely fit. More details of my three (so far!) are on my blog https://redwsews.wordpress.com/2016/08/26/dotty-about-datura/
