Danielle dungarees

I made these dungarees for my daughter using 12 oz black denim. I hadn’t used République du Chiffon patterns before – I ordered the pattern in English – (beautiful packaging design )- the instructions were in English , but the pattern pieces were marked in French so I had a little bit of to-ing and fro-ing to work out what was what. I hadn’t traced off a pattern before, and this one doesn’t have seam allowances included, so that slowed me down a bit too (esp as the seam allowance varies) Apart from that it was all very straightforward apart from a couple of head scratching moments which I put down to my inexperience (curved pocket facing; and a bit of a tussle with one of the inner pockets when i joined everything together) My top stitching is now a lot better, as there is so much on this pattern! I chose a dull yellow thread on the black denim and was really pleased with the result. Didn’t bother with the belt loops as my machine was struggling a bit on the multiple thicknesses of denim. The side fastenings are buttons, but strangely position is not marked on the pattern, but I just worked it out for myself. The legs are quite narrow at the ankle, I had originally extended them but I think they are meant to be short. The size is good, accurate to the measurements, but the fabric layout is for 140cm -it said 2.20 m but I had lots left over from 2m as you can get the main pieces side by side on wider fabric
