Cascade Duffle Coat

I really like this pattern and have a second one planned already. The first was technically a wearable muslin, actually, as I can’t get a good sense of what the pattern looks like on my body from Calico.

The pattern was simple enough to sew – I finished it in a week and a half ish, but I did have a few extra days off work in that time. I’m pretty happy with the finish of the coat too.

There are a few adjustments that I would make before next time though – the usual FBA that I need to do every time, and I will add a bit more shaping to the side seams as well. The only real issue that I found with the pattern that wasn’t specific to my body is that the patch pockets on view A seem way out of proportion. They sit too high up and look odd. I will shorten them for the next version.

I will also add some extra tailoring too, as I have some beautiful green Loden wool that I want to do justice to.

I like this pattern a lot.

The instructions were basically clear, though there were a few points where something vital wasn’t explained. It was covered in the sew a long, though, but it was a bit irritating to have to flick between the two sources to get the information that I needed.

(Photo is an in progress shot, and not the finished article. I hadn’t added the lining / facing then).
